From October 31 to November 6 there was the Festival of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow. Such a great event was organized for the first time in the history of the Society and took place in the Central House of Artists (CHA) in Moscow.

The main purpose of the Festival was to show all the facets of the activities of the Russian Geographical Society, whose branches work in 85 regions of the Russian Federation. Each of the departments is engaged in projects dedicated to the preservation of the natural and cultural heritage of the region, conducts various expeditions and studies, and promotes respect for nature.

Due to modern multimedia technologies, the guests of the event were able to visit the North Pole, sink to the bottom of Lake Baikal, observe the life of the rarest cat in the world, feel like an archeologist, exploring the mound of the Kyzyl-Kuragino expedition, study the remains of mammoths, compare environmental "portraits" of cities Russia and many other things. Visitors saw films made with the grant support of the Russian Geographical Society. They could taste dishes of national cuisines of our country, take part in master classes of folk crafts and participate in educational quizzes, quests, games and scientific shows together with their children.

The festival became the largest thematic event in the country, the visit was of interest to both professional geographers and representatives of related sciences, as well as ordinary visitors, because thanks to the Festival, every visitor could in one day make a fascinating journey through Russia.
