The sailing boat “Konek" built by a member of the Russian Geographical Society Igor Loginov and his son Alexander, was included in the online encyclopedia of the most unusual people's art objects of Russia. The Konek sailing boat was built as part of a project to assess the pollution levels of the Barents and White seas’ beaches, carried out with the support of the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society and the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

"The boat is quite seaworthy, it has European category C4. The point is that you can sail 12 miles away from the shore and if there's wind, you can reach the speed of 10 meters per second” Igor Loginov said.

The boat was built right in an office space of a building, and in order to get the finished boat out, they had to disassemble the window. The boat was built according to the project of a French architect.  On the ”Konek" Igor and Alexander Loginov conducted three environmental surveys, visited Arkhangelsk and the Solovetsky Islands, sailed along the White Sea-Baltic Canal, reached Lake Onega and Kizhi Island.

The analysis of beach pollution was carried out according to the methodology provided by the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute (MMBI) RAS within the framework of the Russian-Norwegian MALINOR project.  The project was presented in September 2021 at the "North Shore" exhibition hosted by the Murmansk Arctic State University.

The encyclopedia of the most unusual people's art objects of Russia, which included a boat built by Igor and Alexander, was compiled by the travel service Туту.ру. It includes attractions from all 85 regions that took part in the All-Russian competition “Tutu Art”.
