February 8th marked the Day of Russian Science

Today, the country celebrates the professional holiday of people who have decided to devote their lives to scientific and research activities – the Day of Russian Science!

The holiday was established by decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 1999. The holiday is dedicated to the date of Russian Academy of Sciences foundation on February 8 , 1724 by Decree of the governing Senate by order of Peter I.

Science plays one of the most important roles in the development of the state, society can't function properly without it.

In addition to geography, the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society is engaged in a variety of sciences – natural, technical, humanitarian, social and anthropological. Members of the RGS work in a variety of research institutions, contributing to the development of science in our country.
