The Day of Russian Press was established by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation dated December 28, 1991. It is timed to the historical date: on January 13, 1703, the first issue of the first Russian printed newspaper Vedomosti, founded by the decree of Peter the Great, was published. Peter the Great considered the newspaper an important means of battle for reforms and asserting the power of the Russian Empire.
In 2022 , by the decision of the Governor of the Murmansk region Andrey Chibis , the title “Honorary worker of the mass media of the Murmansk region" was introduced. The honorable distinctions were awarded to two members of the RGS in the Murmansk region, the editor of the photo service of the newspaper Murmanskiy Vestnik Lev Fedoseev and the editor of the operational service of the newspaper Murmanskiy Vestnik Sergey Yudkov.
The Murmansk Regional Branch of the RGS sincerely congratulates all involved members of the RGS, in particular, Vasily Belousov, Larisa Salyaeva, and everyone who is connected with the press and media! We wish you further success in your activities and a lot of interesting and good news!
For your reference: in 2022 the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society has prepared and posted 100 news items in Russian on its website. Almost all the news were translated into English for the English version of the site, and also posted on the social media pages of the Branch. The main work on preparing and translating the news was performed by Anastasia Yagodina. We congratulate Anastasia on this wonderful holiday and wish to prepare many more interesting news items for the website of the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society!
