In the Murmansk region, you can become a "Polar motorcyclist”

Maxim Belov, a member of the Russian Geographical Society for the Murmansk Regional Branch, took the initiative to create the "Motozapolyarnik (Polar motorcyclist)" project. Personal certificates are issued from the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society with entry in the register of "Polar motorcyclists".

The first solemn presentation of the “Motozapolyarnik (Polar motorcyclist)" certificates took place in November 2021 at the moto-exhibition “Poehali (Let's Go)” in Moscow. 56 were nominees were presentated with certificates.

In addition, a “Motozapolyarnik" sign was installed in Murmansk on the outer facade of the Rock'n'roll Music Bar (Murmansk, Lenina Ave 11).

To get a certificate you need to:

  1. Cross the Arctic Circle on a motorcycle along the R-21 “Kola” highway;
  2. Stay on the territory of the Kola Peninsula for at least 24 hours;
  3. Protect the environment. Take your rubbish with you.
  4. Visit two points of the "Motozapolyarnik” route;

Points of the “Motozapolyarnik” route:

  • The Tersky coast. Umba village. Varzuga village. The venue of the "Motobukhta (Motorharbor)" motorcycle festival in the mouth of the Lodochny creek.
  • Khibiny mountains. Kirovsk. The Ministry of Emergency Situations rescuers base "Kuelporr".
  • Murmansk.
  • The village of Teriberka. The venue of the "Motobukhta" motorcycle festival. Waterfall in the village of Teriberka.
  • Dalniye Zelentsy.
  • Sredny Peninsula. Rybachy Peninsula. The venue of the "Motobukhta" motorcycle festival is Kutovaya Bay.
  1. Provide a photo at the "Polar Circle" stele and photos from places you've visited;
  2. If you cross the Arctic Circle in winter, you may only visit one route point out of six. In this case, you will get the “Snowy Motozapolyarnik” certificate;
  3. Those who attend the Motobukhta event in any year and at any point of the route are automatically eligible for certification;
  4. Scooters, sidecar motorcycles, tricycles all fall under the definition of a “motorcycle";
  5. Those who visit all six route points in one trip receive the special certificate "The Ultimate Motozapolyarnik”;
  6. Submit an application to an RGS member Maxim Belov (motozapolarnikatyandex.ru ).
