The Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society took part in a foresight session dedicated to the development of national routes in the region

In 2023, the Murmansk region will receive 22.5 million rubles of federal funding for the development of three national tourist routes. On October 25, a foresight session on development and promotion of national routes in the region was held in Murmansk.

The session was attended by more than 90 specialists from 11 municipalities. Among them were local historians, scientists, guides and tour operators, representatives of regional and municipal authorities, museums, restaurants, hotels, including representatives of the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society.

The participants were divided into 8 teams coordinated by moderators. They spent the whole day working on identifying key resources, features and problems of each municipality, and then on designing national routes for specific target audiences. Then, the teams determined what needs to be done to develop the proposed routes.

Following the session, a regional team was formed to develop and maintain national routes in the Murmansk Region.
