From July 28 until August 2, Ekaterina Rusakevich did an internship as part of the interregional stage of the youth educational project "School of Safety 2021". The project was organized by the Altair RGS Youth Club near the "Shkhelda" mountaineering camp in the Prielbrusye National Park in Kabardino-Balkaria. Ekaterina's application was selected from 220 other applications from all over the country.

The participants of the internship learned how to act correctly in dangerous situations, took classes on rocky and snow-ice terrain, as well as classes on the basics of working with climbing equipment, went out to the Kashkatash glacier and the slopes of Elbrus. The final part of the program was a climb to the "All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions" pass and a climb to the top of the Kurmytau Mount (4050 meters). After that, the participants were honored with the "Climber of Russia" badge. During the internship, the participants had a chance to listen to the lectures by rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the tourism industry representatives. These lectures came in handy when Ekaterina participated in the final round of the Masters of Hospitality competition.

In September, Konstantin Kalinovsky, a future professional ecologist, went to the Irkutsk region to attend an RGS Youth club convention. September 6 through 10, he, together with environmentalists, sociologists, representatives of the tourism industry and young scientists, discussed intercultural interaction among different population groups living in territories with a special legal status, giving special attention to the Baikal Natural Territory.

Kostantin got acquainted with the activities of the Irkutsk Regional Branch of the Russian geographical society and their cooperation with environmental organizations, visited the Maloe More strait in Lake Baikal, where he learned a cartographic basis of the nature of the Baikal region and learned to make astronomical observations in the atmosphere above the lake, co-created environmental projects, such as “creative perspective on the problem of waste in the lake — usuing modern art to raise environmental awareness”.

Next month Mikhail Zhidkov, who prepared several reports on the historical and cultural heritage of Severomorsk, represented the Murmansk RGS Youth club at the All-Russian RGS Youth clubs convention “Sursky Compass” in Penza. On October 3 through 9, 2021, activists from all over Russia took part in lectures, seminars, master classes and trainings on the use of the natural and cultural-historical potential of the regions for tourist purposes. The participants attended seminars on how to create a tourist project, talked at a round table about popular tourist routes of the regions, created and presented route projects aimed at maintaining, preserving and popularizing cultural and historical heritage and tourism development in their cities. For a week, young people traveled to historical places near Penza and explored of the city. The final day of the RGS Youth club convention was also the Day of Ethno-cultural Tourism dedicated to learning about the traditions of the Mordovian people.
