State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Murman, activities were carried out in the waters of the Kola Bay as part of the third season of the Complex Expedition "Remember the War". The Northern Fleet, the Russian Geographical Society and the enterprises and companies that joined them have begun a series of search stages that will cover the Barents, White and Kara Seas.

The main goal of the project, which started in 2021, is military—historical work to perpetuate the memory of sailors, defenders of the Fatherland. During this stage, the main forces are thrown into the search for aircraft and aviation magnetic mines.

"It has not been confirmed yet that any of the identified objects were mines. Unfortunately, the version that the aircraft were located near Abram-Mys, turned out to be false," commented Alexey Kornis, head of the Hydrographic Service of the Northern Fleet, in an interview with the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Murman.

The search work is carried out mainly with the help of the remote-controlled device Marlin. It finds underwater objects which are later examined by divers. 78 years is a long time, but even sea water cannot completely hide the traces of war.

The peculiarity of this season is that in addition to the direct search operations within the framework of the "Remember the War" expeditions, the Northern Fleet closely interacts with new partners. In particular, the Kalan unmanned hydrographic boats — an entirely domestic development — are undergoing tests. The first samples were launched last summer. They are designed for hydrographic surveying (determining the bottom relief) and searching for objects under water.

"A significant detail that distinguishes our devices, for example, from Chinese analogues that are now being brought to Russia for hydrography is the duration of work. Chinese devices function for a maximum of 4 hours, while our device on a set of batteries can work continuously for 8 hours at low temperatures," explained Svetlana Dunchevskaya, General director of the research and production company.

This season of the expedition of the Northern Fleet and the Russian Geographical Society will last until October.
