Valentina Skok, a participant of the legendary 1985 expedition to Franz Josef Land, celebrates her birthday

Valentina Skok was a doctor of the expedition. She also immensely helped to organize it, she was engaged in providing the expedition with various equipment, food, etc.

Valentina Skok is one of the co-authors of the book based on the materials of the 1985 expedition to Franz Josef Land, the first historical and archaeological expedition in the archipelago. This unique historical material was published in 2021 on the initiative of the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society with the financial support of the Norilsk Nickel.

Rostislav Gaidovsky, deputy head of the expedition, member of the Council of the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society: "Valentina is an active traveler, always energetic, active, hospitable. Even now, 35 years after the expedition, its participants – Alexander Okorokov, Vitaly Teplyakov and others - gather at her house. She is the one who keeps all of us together."
