Vitaly Novikov, a Murmansk photographer and a member of the Russian Geographical Society, participated in a 22-day expedition to the Svalbard archipelago on the research vessel "Dalniye Zelentsy".
The vessel belongs to the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute. On August 23, 2018, the research vessel "Dalniye Zelentsy" turned 40 years old. "Dalniye Zelentsy" is the only Russian research vessel regularly operating in the waters of the Svalbard archipelago.
