Even before his death he was already a legendary figure, and after that descendants did not forget about him.  The biography of Alexander Nevsky was compiled almost immediately after his death, and he was canonized  as a saint in the first year of the independent reign of Ivan the Terrible. The role of Nevsky in the history of our country was recognized by our ancestors, they remembered and honored him”.

September through October 2021, the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society together with the Quantorium-51 implemented a joint project. Its goal was to create a three-dimensional model of the monument to Alexander Nevsky. The project is dedicated to the widely celebrated 800th anniversary of Alexander Nevsky. The monument to Alexander Nevsky, installed in 1985 in Veliky Novgorod, was taken as a model.

Also, this summer, scientists of the Russian Geographical Society set out to determine where exactly the famous Battle on the Ice took place in 1242, which has remained a mystery to historians until now. Divers of the RGS Underwater Research Center using the most modern technologies studied the bottom of Lake Peipsi in the Pskov region. At the bottom of Lake Peipsi the scientists might have found the "Crow Stone". According to records, this is exactly where Alexander Nevsky and his army fought the knights of the Livonian Order in 1242.  Scientists hope for new discoveries. In the area of the "Crow Stone" the should be able to find traces of the battle - weapons and armor, which can finally confirm that the battle took place there.
