Security of Arctic Frontiers 2020
On October 22-23 this year, in Murmansk during the X Days of Russian-Norwegian Cross-Border Cooperation, an international scientific and practical conference "Security of Arctic frontiers: ecology, history, images of the future" was be held. The Murmansk regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society acted as the event operator.
Among the speakers were: Director of the Institute for Applied Political Studies Grigory Dobromelov, the Norwegian statesman and public figure Arne Treholt, journalist and writer Per Kristian Olsen, scientists, ecologists, high-ranking representatives of the Christian and Muslim organizations, business leaders. A real adornment of the historical part of the program should be a video message from a veteran of WWII, who took direct personal participation in the defeat of the Nazi invaders and the Liberation of Northern Norway, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vice-Admiral Sarkisov Ashot Arakelovich. It is especially valuable on the eve of the 76th anniversary of the victorious end of Petsamo- Kirkenes operation.
Among the partners and participants were representatives of state, commercial and non-governmental non-profit structures of Russia, Norway and other subarctic countries, including: Federal Research Center "Kola Science Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences", Murmansk Arctic State University, Norwegian Arctic University, a number of environmental organizations, Murmansk Marine Biological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Norwegian research company "Akvaplan niva", ANO "Project Center" Northern Character ", JSC" Kola MMC ", GC" Uralgrit ", Arctic Development AS, IBRAE RAS, Ministry of Economic Development of the Murmansk region and others.
