On 9-10 February, the State Historical Museum will celebrate the 146th anniversary since its foundation. Due to the support from the "Systema" charitable foundation the museum will offer free admission to all visitors.

Visitors will be able to enjoy historical re-enactment events and plays, take part in quests, workshops, get guided tours of expositions and exhibitions or sightseeing tours of architectural monuments. The museum will also offer a concert and film show accompanied by live music.

The Historical Museum of Russia was founded in 1872 with the permission of His Imperial Majesty Alexander II. The Moscow State Duma allowed to build the museum on Red Square. The museum was opened by Alexander III in May 1883.

The museum complex also includes St Basil’s Cathedral and the Monument to Minin and Pozharsky on the opposite side of Red Square, the Chambers of the Romanov boyars on Varvarka Street and the Tsar’s Palace in Izmailovo. In the early 2000s the building of the former house of the Moscow State Duma, Moscow Mint and Nikolsky trading rows became part of the Historical Museum.

Feb 9 – free admission to the entire museum complex

Feb 10 – free admission to the Historical Museum and “The Treasures of Prague Castle” exhibition
