The Russian Geographical Society and the Russian Textbook Company have announced an educational competition for preschoolers and schoolchildren and invite participants to make their own ecological route through the autumn forest and collect a multi-colored herbarium.

Before the start, the participants are recommended to get acquainted with the surrounding area and determine the species of vegetation. The route should be drawn up according to the method of organization of phenological observations. The recommended time is 2 hours.
Herbariums collected during the route can be both thematic (for example, medicinal or cultivated plants, herbs of a certain area) and systematic (plants grouped by botanical families). The collection should have scientific or educational value. Thus, when collecting a herbarium, it is necessary to write down the location and conditions of plants growth, find their scientific names, properly dry them and make herbarium specimens from them.
The participants should provide several photos of the herbarium (in good quality, from different angles) together with the page of their route on the website at: straniekologicheskaya.rf. Submissions are open until October 31, 2018.
Authors of the best works will receive diplomas and gifts from the Russian Geographical Society and the Russian Textbook Company.
