On June 30, the 4th Baltic Olympiad of schoolchildren in geography, which brought together participants from Russia, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Estonia, was completed in Klaipeda (Lithuania). The Russian national team, traditionally supported by the Russian Geographical Society, included 7 schoolchildren from Moscow and Perm.

The team was supervised by D.V. Bogachev, associate professor of the Oryol University named after IS. Turgenev, N.A. Mozgunov and P.L. Kirillov, research associates of the Faculty of Geography of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The competition part of the Olympiad consisted of various theoretical questions, practical and cartographic tasks, as well as multimedia quizzes.

As a result of the Olympics, our team won two medals. Both were won by the Muscovites - Julia Grabareva took "gold", Alen Kospanov - "silver."

Four more Russians are facing even more serious challenges - the International Geography Olympiad (iGeo), which will be held in early August in Belgrade (Serbia).
