Nomination: Scientific Research of the Russian Geographical Society.
Goal: To systematize and implement scientific research findings to ensure sustainable development of the Mariinsk Water System.
Objectives:
- Organize extensive expeditions and scientific research of the Mariinsk Water System.
- Encourage leisure and tourist activity in the region of the Volgo-Baltic Canal.
- Publish popular scientific reference materials and create educational videos.
- Ensure that the Geographic Information System (GIS) contains up-to-date information on the Volgo-Baltic Canal. The GIS will offer a comprehensive resource for exploitation and reconstruction of the Volgo-Baltic waterways and for sustainable development of the region.
