The Krasnodar Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society announces the start of the XVII All-Russian Intellectual Geography Experts Tournament. Teams of high school students from different regions of Russia will get to try their hand at an interesting contest. The main prize for the winner will be a sea trip on a cruise liner.
The Geography Experts Tournament is a comprehensive educational and educational project of the Krasnodar Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society which has been implemented since 2011. Over the years, more than 5,000 people from 54 regions of our country have become participants. The main prize for the winners is a voyage around to Russia.
In 2023, a school was organized in the Temryuksky District of the Krasnodar Territory for the winners of the XVI All-Russian Intellectual Geography Experts Tournament. Young geographers and their mentors met with the Honorary President of the Russian Geographical Society, academician Vladimir Kotlyakov, and also took part in an intellectual game held by a member of the club “Chto? Gde? Kogda?” (eng. "What? Where? When?"), four-time winner of the Crystal Owl Award Dmitry Avdeenko.
418 teams from 45 regions of Russia took part in the qualifying stage of the tournament in 2023. The winners from the educational and scientific center of Ural Federal University, together with their mentor Irina Kiyamova, spent six exciting days at Krasnaya Polyana Resort.

“Our educational projects have a long-term successful history. We give talented children the opportunity not only to show their intellectual abilities but also to go on a trip together with the Russian Geographical Society and our partners to explore Russia and the world in all its diversity,” said the chairman of the jury of the tournament Ivan Chaika.
Teams of students of grades 8-10 are invited to participate in the XVII All-Russian Intellectual Geography Experts Tournament. The contest is held in two stages: extramural and in-person (remote). To participate in the first stage, you must familiarize yourself with the Regulations of the Tournament (in Russian), send an application with a photo of the team and answers to the tasks of the qualifying stage by April 8, 2024, by filling out the appropriate electronic form.

The winning team, that demonstrates the highest results in knowledge of geographical concepts and terms, in the ability to solve problems in the field of geography and related sciences, will embark on a sea voyage on the cruise liner Astoria Grande.
