Lake Elton

Lake Elton - the salt-drainage lake in the north of the Caspian lowlands, in the Volgograd region. Its area is 152 square kilometers, the depth is about 0.1 meters. Its is 18 meters below sea level. Supplied mainly by snow. There are outputs of salt sources at the bottom. The lake is filled with brine, which becomes fresh in the spring. There are deposits of mineral salts and hydrogen sulphide mud at the bottom of Elton. There is mud and spa resort near the lake.
