The Putorana Plateau

100-meter-high waterfall on the river Amnundakty on the Putorana Plateau. The Putorana Plateau is a mountainous area on the north-west of the Central Siberian Plateau. Its name is sometimes translated as "mountains without peaks." From a bird's eye the plateau looks like the venous system - rivers cut it in all directions. Generally, the water system is one of the paradoxes of the Putorana Plateau. When the plateau was rising under the influence of tectonic processes, the rivers fell down, cutting slopes, sometimes changing direction, creating waterfalls rushing down the mountain stages.
