The oceanographic research vessel "Admiral Vladimirsky", with the participants of the Round-the-world Oceanographic Expedition on board, crossed the equator and is moving according with the approved course in the Atlantic. The completion of the expedition is scheduled for June 8 in Kronstadt.
The expedition of the Hydrographic Service of the Russian Navy and the Russian Geographical Society is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Russian sailors Faddey Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev, as well as to the 250th birthday anniversary of Admiral Ivan Kruzenshtern. The expedition route largely follows the path of the ships of Bellingshausen and Lazarev. On the “Admiral Vladimirsky” oceanographic research vessel, the participants of the round-the-world expedition passed through the Baltic and North Seas, crossed the Atlantic Ocean and conducted research in the Antarctic waters.

As Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, noted, now “Admiral Vladimirsky” is at the final, sixth stage of the expedition.
"On April 30, the ‘Admiral Vladimirsky’ replenished supplies on the Seychelles and continued the expedition according to the approved plan. During the sixth stage, the expedition members continue oceanographic and hydrographic research along the route and, in particular, en-route depths measurement," said Nikolai Evmenov.

According to Nikolai Evmenov, during the previous five stages of the expedition, all of the research work was fully completed. Now, the experts will begin a thorough analysis of the results of the Antarctic research.
Some of the results of the expedition were previously told to us by its leader, deputy head of the Department of Navigation and Oceanography of the Russian Ministry of Defense, captain 1st rank, Oleg Osipov.

Note, that at a meeting in the Admiralty, Nikolay Evmenov instructed the heads of government to prepare a ceremonial meeting of the "Admiral Vladimirsky" in Kronstadt.
“It is especially important that the unique expedition of the “Admiral Vladimirsky” oceanographic research vessel was conducted in the year of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory,” Nikolai Evmenov emphasized.
